Is Video Necessary?

There has been a lot of advice out there regarding video that is getting tiresome. And that idea is that…

Everybody Loves Video!!!

I get really tired of that. Why? Because not everyone even does video. Even the long time successful internet marketers. Some of them have been around for years, and they have never done a video. There are a couple of them that have never shown their face.

And think of the last video you saw that was awful. You know what I mean...

The video was boring, it didn't do much to inform, and there are some where the content is a face talking to you for 15 to 20 minutes. Arms waving and making faces. Why?

A complete waste of time. Need more proof?

Take the time to visit the biggest video site (you know the one!). Enter the name of a recent product launch and add the word “review” after it. You’ll be presented with a list of the top videos for that review.

Make sure to take note of how many views each of the videos have received. Only look at the videos that are at least a week old. That way, you know that they have had a lot of time to get exposure and clicks.

What you’ll find is that there are a lot of them that have less then 10 views, or less than 20 views. What that tells you is that it may be true that there are a lot of videos online. And it may be true that there are a lot of people who love video. What’s also true is that…

Despite being told that all you have to do is put up a video and you’ll get a ton of free traffic, what I showed you is that just having a video online doesn’t mean that YOU will get a ton of traffic. Or any traffic at all.

I think of video as a tool for communicating your message to your market. If it makes sense to create videos to use in your business, do it. What you should NOT do is…

Count on creating and posting videos online and thinking that you are going to get an avalanche of free traffic. May happen, but not a sure thing.

Unless you have a healthy email list that you can use to get exposure for your videos, spend most of your time building your list. If you think that having a video on your opt-in page, do it. If you want to create a video on your thank you page and it makes sense for your business, do it.

Just don’t get caught up in the idea that you HAVE to create videos if you want a successful business. Concentrate on what you need to do, which is build a list and sell products. Create an income, and if you think that video is a good fit for your business, that’s what you should do.

Don’t create the videos because some sales page told you to. Do it because you enjoy it, and it moves you to a more profitable online business. To you success.

A wise man once said “If you build a responsive email list and treat that list with respect, and help your subscribers whenever you can, you’ll never have to worry about making money online ever again. It’s your golden ticket – the most valuable asset in your entire online business.” Learn more here…
